Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Olympic Sailing Committee, US SAILING, Rolex Watch USA, and all of the athletes and coaches who participated in this years’ event, we would like to thank you for your time, effort, and dedication during the 2010 Rolex Miami OCR. We simply can’t run an event of this size without volunteers like you.
The 21st running of this event went off beautifully. In the second season of the ISAF Sailing World Cup, Miami was the testing ground for new concepts for running a successful event, and with overwhelming support from approximately 150 volunteers, we set the bar high for the rest of the World Cup events to meet the success we achieved. We are enormously proud of the accolades we earned this year, and we thank you for pouring boundless effort, energy and enthusiasm on to Biscayne Bay to ensure a world-class event. It was on your shoulders that we all achieved success.
The World Cup is also driving participation: The 2010 regatta was the 4th largest in the history of the event with 448 boats, 633 sailors from 45 nations participating. Terrific! 130 fleet races and 177 matches over 50 flights were held over the 6 days of beautiful sailing on Biscayne Bay. A little rain didn’t dampen tremendous efforts to achieve a great schedule. In the end, the athletes and coaches were pleased with the racing, which bolsters why we all do this: Bottom line, it’s the racing that matters. Adding to a successful week was a terrific team of race officers and race committee volunteers, judges, umpires, medical personnel, scorers, and other devoted volunteers. Together we put on a terrific event. Well done!
The regatta is also a wonderful opportunity to see old friends and make new ones. We hope you enjoyed your stay in Miami, and we look forward to working with you again in the future.
Warm regards,
Katie Kelly
