GENERAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES: All Coconut Grove Sailing Club (CGSC) staff are provided a selected complimentary meal and sodas during their shift, free on site parking when space allows, or reimbursed parking when it does not, and uniform shirts. Insurance benefits are available if full-time (24 hrs p/wk) along with time and half for selected holidays AFTER 90 DAYS. CGSC is a drug free work enviroment and reserves the right to randomly test. Coconut Grove Sailing Club is a quasi-private club. Whereas, we do have a strong membership base, we also allow access to the general public for various events, educational programs and moorings. We encourage you to learn their names of our members and boat owners and their personal preferences in all matters and attend to their needs as requested.
You will find CGSC to be a fun relaxed atmosphere to work and grow.

POSITION STATUS - AS OF 3/3/10
BARTENDER: Bartender applicants must demonstrate basic knowledge of mixology and have prior experience with POS systems. We operate a small lounge with food and a limited staff. On many occassions you will work only with a chef, food runner and yourself. You will be expected to maintain the cleanliness of the facility and surrounding areas (deck and Liqour storage room). Being a Members club, there will be the occassional extended schedule to accomidate club events, so flexibilty is a plus. Renumeration is $8.25 p/hr plus tips. For private banquet functions, the host will provide $100 plus any tips are offered. YOUTH SAILING INSTRUCTOR: Our sailing department has openings for part-time youth instructors. US Sailing Level I Certification required. Time requirements are 2-3 hrs several weekday afternoons and 8am to 4pm on Saturdays, but could vary. SATURDAYS ONLY YOUTH SAILING INSTRUCTOR: Part time position Sailing Instructor for your Learn To Sail program. US Sailing Level 1 Instructor preferred, but not required. Individual must posses and be able to demonstrate basic sailing skills and be able to teach beginners points of sail, boat handling techniques, and overall safety on the water. YOUTH LASER COACH: We are growing our Laser Racing team of enthusiatic young sailors and looking for the right part-time coach. DOCK STAFF ASSOCIATE: Dock staff at CGSC wear many hats and are the backbone of the club. Duties include, but are not be limited to, the shuttling of Members to and from their moored boats, launching club boats via the hoist, assisting with mooring repairs, maintaining the cleanliness of club facilities and grounds (landscaping), and whenever possible assisting the members with their boating needs. MOORINGS INSPECTION AND REPAIR DIVER: Candidate will report to the Dock Master and be responsible to insure all club moorings are inspected bi-annually and maintained within the prescribed tolerance levels of the CGSC. The Diver will be assisted by and assigned a "Top Man". The Diver and Top Man will be scheduled by the Dock Master and expected to inspect and/or repair a minimum of 8-10 moorings a week. If the Diver opperates under the terms of "Contract Labor", they shall be required to maintain and provide proof of $100,000.00 personal liability insurance. Should they be engaged directly as a Club employee, the liabilty will be covered by the Club and hourly pay will be at a lower rate to compensate the Club's insurance. WEEKEND PARKING LOT ATTENDANT: In this positon, your primary repsonsibility will be to ensure that only decaled members park on the lot. If the opportunity arises, you my be considered for future openings on the Dock Staff or other areas of the Club. You will be scheduled by and report to the Dockmaster. OFFICE ASSISTANT: The primary role of this individual will be to input the day-to-day billing on the Members accounts and to insure the correctness of daily and monthly reports to insure proper member billing. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: daily bank deposits, maintenance of the boat moorings records, weekly staff payroll, Accounts Receivables, phone receptionist, limited weekly purveyor purchasing, assisting with member issues and questions, assisting the Sailing Director, Dock Master, and Club General Manager with basic administrative duties as requested. Your direct report would be to the Club's Accountant, then the General Manager. Normal hours would consist of Mon-Fri, 10-6. but can be flexiable.This is a fun atmosphere, but a serious job. KITCHEN STEWARD / FOOD RUNNER: This position will answer to the Head Chef. Responsibilities are to maintain the kitchen in good order, wash all pots/dishes, clean kitchen floor at end of shift and assist Chefs. Further, you will be required to deliver food ordered by the Bartenders to the bar or Guest tables. You will also be responsible to bus tables on the deck as well. Beginning salary offered is $7.95 p/hr and the bartenders will provide a share of their tips for your food running abilities. CHEF: We operate a very simple, low key culinary operation providing a selcted menu of burgers, wraps, salads and appetizers. Club emphasis is speed, cleanliness, and the avoiding of waste. We operate both a day and evening shift with flexibilty, with and between shifts. Experience and basic culinary skills required. A Culinary degree is not required. Ability to place food orders and conduct monthly inventories is encouraged. Basic hours are 25-30 hours a week with pay based on experience, in the $9.75 - $12.00 range. FOOD AND BEVERAGE SUPERVISOR: Our kitchen and bar service is limited to Members and executed in a casual environment. The position requires previous experience in similar style operation and appropriate management skills. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing highest level of service to our Members, food quality and presentation, staff performance management and closing duties.
